Never too old to learn

As the title says you are never too old to learn. I recently joined Dani Ives , who is an amazing fibre artist,  online workshops to refine my 2d felting skills. I am mostly self taught but sometimes I struggle to see what is in front of me when I am painting with wool. I have learnt so much so far and this is a recent eye study I did. I think I am going to make it into a brooch.

These skills will mean that I will have much more confidence in creating pet portraits that are at the moment out of my comfort zone. Like cats!

I think most people find they are a cat or dog person and I am definitely the latter.

Painting with wool is the art of needle felting into a fabric base, building up  the layers and shades as you would with any other medium. It is a long process but just magical when it all comes together at the end.

I really want to make a fluffy cat now so I think that maybe my next project. I did paint a memorial portrait for a friend recently.

If you click on the photos they should open, but I am still learning about adding content to websites too.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks for reading

JO
